Total number of participants and boards played is down from last year. However, 40 participants and 12 boards is better than what we expected.

We had quite a few beginners. In the 4th and final round we had both an A-final and a B-final, as well as a beginners' table. At the beginning of the last round, we had 15 players and were able to recruit 6 more so the last guy also could play! Two of these newbies, Halfdan Andestad and Runar Holen, actually ran away with two of the Best Country awards.

Most notable single game result was Karl Georg Øhrn's 1907 solo as Russia in round 1. It's the first solo in an official Norwegian tournament game since EDC 1996.

For the third year in a row, we had foreign participation. Four of our neighbours dropped by and Simon Magnusson stole the title. He entered the final with the third best qualification score and won with an 8-centre England with France and Turkey tied at 7 SCs. A well deserved victory!

System: 4 round 1908 pure C-diplo. 3 qualifying rounds, of which the 2 best results and 50% of the worst result counted towards a qualifying score. The 7 highest ranked players advanced to the top board in the final round. The 2 top spots were reserved for no. 1 and 2 from this board. The second board consisted of players ranked 8-14 and they also got to draw selection order and then power according to qualification score. The two final tables got a 20% and a 10% bonus added to the total score. The beginner board in the final round was drawn randomly. We used the "Dip-timer" for central timing and "DTM" for seeding and scoring. We saw 3 boards in each round, making a total of 12 boards.

The Arcon Diplomacy tournament is here to stay. Several of the active NDA members helped out during the event, for which I'm grateful. We can safely claim to be one of the larger tournaments in Europe, with a good mix of experienced and inexperienced players.

So remember to stop by Oslo the last weekend of June 2005 for the next Norwegian National Diplomacy Convention!
